Tic Tac Jam

robb's picture

Matt Madden came up with this idea for combining tic tac toe and a drawing jam -- it's been a great game to play with my kids.  You don't really play to win - more to see if you can finish a story together.  Here's one I did with my youngest.

I can't remember the order exactly, but I think she drew the second panel first (notice the legs are kind of "O" ish!) and I drew the middle (5th) panel second (spaceship exhaust is the "X")

Drew these sometime earlier this year.

Nice article today on Aparna Nancherla -- a 28 year old comedian who ultimately has left DC to pursue a standup comedy career.  I really mainly am linking to it because I realized I had a couple of degree connection -- her boyfriend Hampton Yount is also a standup comic (who has already moved to Los Angeles) and writes the webcomic Rob and Elliot.  I have met Hampton's brother (and the artist for Rob and Elliot) Clay at least once.  Anyhow Hampton has a very funny bit on the game RISK CLUE:

Drupal really missed the boat in not more actively supporting webcomics a few years ago and now Wordpress with the help of the very effective Comicpress theme has taken a huge chunk of that market share.  If you're starting from scratch Wordpress + Comicpress is a great way to get going.

Sinfest isn’t exactly political but it is opinionated and not afraid to make fun of sacred cows.  This one is kind of silly but I liked the lil diebold machine in it.

Japanese Beetle has also kicked the bucket. I could never get into this one - something forced about the tone and the humor I guess.

You know I don't read NERDz everyday but I did check it out now and than and I met Screwball at the Pittsburgh Comicon. He's called off NERDz as of mid-July. At least I got a limited edition sketch before he stopped :)

Get ready for the second edition of the AltBrand Webcomic Telethon to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association. We raised over a $1000 in a week last time and we hope to do better this year.

You can donate, sponsor or contribute a comic to help out!
